Why do I need a garden designer?

Any size of garden can benefit from being professionally designed.  For example, a carefully-considered design can maximize the use of a small space. Equally, a larger plot may gain from zoning into separately-defined areas of use: sunny patios, shady seating, child play areas, borders or productive areas.  Very large properties may need several distinct gardens with different characters, sympathetically linked to the buildings, each other, and the extended environment.

You may have an old garden which needs renovating, or one that no longer suits your present lifestyle, or have a development which needs to attract buyers by having “kerb  appeal”; your nursing home may be more attractive if it offers residents beautiful places to sit, or even work in; your school may wish to encourage an interest in healthy eating, or the environment, by developing neglected plots; an attractive pub or restaurant garden can be an incentive for customers; many people these days like grow their own fruit and vegetables, and this can be included in the brief.

A designer working closely with a client can help focus on what is really required, and produce a plan tailored to the owner’s ideals.

Remember, also, a well-designed garden can add value:
